Hi guys and girls!
Have you ever wondered if professional artists are dealing with mental blocks while working? I've been asked a lot about this. Many people tend to think that everything is fun and easy. But, the truth is that it is not.
If you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced artist, there will come a time in your career, when you will have to push the barriers, and move on.
Breaking the Mental Barrier
The artists I have met, especially the more advanced ones, have often spoken about the need to keep pushing in order to cross the creative blocks. Creative blocks are the things that can make you think you're not good enough, again.
It is a toxic process of self-doubt, where you begin to feel uncertain about your abilities. You begin to think that you are incapable of doing the work assigned to you.
You have to push
Every professional artist I've talked to has told me that the key to success is to constantly challenge the mental barriers that cause creative blocks. Hard work, and the treatment of each project as a learning experience, helps a lot.
Advanced and experienced artists are not put in phase by the fact that sometimes they may be necessary to draw something that may not be their area of expertise. For a beginner, this can cause a lot of anxiety, or even stubbornness. But hey, you just have to push through the barrier!
Ways to Lift Your Mental Weights
There are many ways a professional artist can successfully break the creative, mental barriers they face. Here are some ways I found to be useful:
• Go for a walk on the block. Not only will it rejuvenate your mind, it could also pick up some great inspirations for your tasks.
• Set your own parameters. This will help you to see the creative possibilities where you did not think it was possible.
• Never doubt your own willpower. Every successful professional artist has told me that sheer determination and sand has helped them get where they are today.
• Find your inspiration. The more you work, the better you can tackle creative challenges. The best ideas come from the work process. You can not just sit back and wait for the inspiration of the strike!
• Leave your comfort zone. You can be great at drawing people, it does not mean that you will never take a project that requires you to draw animals. It may take a while to get used to, but it will definitely help you push your artisitic boundaries.
